Closeup of a Honda VTEC Rocker Arm Assembly- 3 rockers for each pair of valves. At lower RPM's the outer two rockers operate off stock camshaft lobes. At higher RPM, the VTEC solenoid kicks in and allows oil pressure to flow to the center VTEC rocker. This rocker rides on a higher lift and duration camshaft lobe. The oil pressure now engages tiny 'clutches' that grab the two outer rockers, and open the valves to the now higher cam specs. I will post more pics of the internals as I have them available.
